The Community Events Team supports our fundraising events, awareness activities, and community outreach through the year, with our signature Seeing With Our Hearts gala at the center of it.

Events fund the programs that change lives here, and they introduce new Alaskans to our mission. A welcoming, well-run event turns a first-time guest into a lasting supporter.

What You Will Do
Before the Event
- Solicit silent auction donations from local businesses
- Make follow-up calls
- Pick up donated items
- Track donations in a spreadsheet
- Prepare bid sheets and display cards
- Organize storage and inventory
- Assemble gift baskets
- Assist with event planning meetings
Event Set-Up
- Decorate the venue
- Arrange silent auction tables
- Set up the registration area
- Prepare signage
- Test payment systems
- Prepare volunteer packets
During the Event
- Welcome guests
- Registration and check-in
- Door greeters
- Silent auction monitors
- Floaters assisting wherever needed
- Runner for event staff
- Assist guests with accessibility needs
After the Event
- Auction checkout
- Package winning items
- Breakdown and cleanup
- Inventory remaining supplies
- Prepare thank-you letters and donor acknowledgments
