Today, this photograph represents more than a cherished memory. It introduces the Julia Gebert Technology Fund, which continues Julia’s legacy by helping provide assistive technology to Alaskans who are blind or visually impaired, opening doors to greater independence, opportunity, and connection.

Though Julia experienced the world without sight, she helped others see with their hearts. Through the Julia Gebert Technology Fund, her light continues to shine; bringing possibility, independence, and connection to others throughout Alaska.

The Freedom Circle — Monthly Giving

Give the gift of independence, month after month.

Why give monthly? A monthly gift is the steadiest support there is. It lets us plan ahead, say yes when someone needs a cane or a magnifier today, and keep our classes running month after month — not only when a large gift happens to arrive. A little each month adds up to a great deal over a year.

Your monthly gift puts tools and training directly into people’s hands: long white canes, magnifiers and other low-vision devices, and scholarships that send youth to camp and adults through training. Gifts that are not tied to one purpose help the most, because they let us meet the need in front of us, whatever it is that month. If you are not sure where to send your gift, choosing “where the need is greatest” does exactly that.

Memorial Giving

The Julia Gebert Memorial Fund provides device and technology scholarships for blind and low-vision Alaskans. Give in her memory and help carry forward the skills she embodied.

Our supporters

The Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is funded through government and private foundation grants, fees for services, and donations from individuals, businesses, and service organizations.
