Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 29, 2026

The Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (“ACBVI,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit alaskabvi.org or interact with us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need, and we never sell your information.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you donate, fill out a form, sign up for our newsletter, or contact us, you may provide your name, contact information, and the details of your request. If you make or refer someone for services, you may share information about vision needs so we can help. Donations are processed through our donation partner, DonorPerfect; payment details are entered on their secure form, and we do not store full card numbers on our website.

Information collected automatically. We use a privacy-friendly website analytics tool (Independent Analytics) to understand which pages are visited so we can improve the site. It is cookieless, does not track you across other websites, and does not use advertising trackers. Our web host also keeps standard server logs.

How we use your information

  • To acknowledge and process your gifts and send receipts.
  • To respond to your questions and requests.
  • To provide and coordinate the services you ask for.
  • To send newsletters and updates you have asked to receive.
  • To understand and improve how the website is used.

How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with trusted service providers who help us operate — such as DonorPerfect for donation processing and the tools we use to manage forms and email — and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Confidentiality of service and referral information

Information you share to receive services, or to refer someone for services, is kept confidential. We use it only to provide and coordinate care, consistent with applicable law and our client rights policies.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses only the minimal cookies needed to function. Our analytics is cookieless, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices

  • You may opt out of our mailing list or newsletter at any time by contacting us.
  • You may ask us to correct or remove your personal information.
  • As described in our Donor Bill of Rights, you may ask to have your name removed from any list we might share.

Data security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) website and security monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you share with us.

Children’s privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as our donation form and our Facebook page. This policy does not cover their practices; please review the privacy policies of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
