Directions to the Center in Spenard
If you are using public transportation such as the People Mover, take the Number 7 Bus going West on Spenard Road toward the Airport from the Downtown Transit Center.
About two blocks after passing the railroad tracks on Spenard Road, get off just beyond the McRae Street intersection and walk back to the northeast corner which is controlled by a traffic light. A small row of offices, including First Care and a Police Substation, will be on the McRae side of Spenard Road.
On the other side, McRae turns into Taft Drive. Walk across Spenard Road going south with your back to the Police Substation and continue on Taft Drive past the small intersection of Harding Street and past the alley.
You will then be in the front parking area of the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. After crossing the parking area, which provides space for up to three vehicles, the main entrance is on the right.
If you are driving or coming by taxi, go west on Spenard Road after the intersection at Minnesota Drive and continue past the railroad tracks. The next stoplight is McRae Street on the right and Taft Drive on the left. Turn left onto Taft Drive and continue past Harding and an alley on the left.
The front parking lot of Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired borders the alley and the main entrance is just beyond that.
